Be Inspired, You Matter

you!

Hi WordPress Family!
I hope all of you have been well.
I began to write today after a stint of silence.
Today, I just wanted to let you know that you matter!
Don’t be tricked into thinking you don’t.

This started out with the intention of being a poem, that turned into a kind of random rambling writing.
But, still, I hope you enjoy!

You can only be you, not somebody else.
So don’t try to be anything but amazing you!
Yes, give ‘props’ to whom ‘props’ are due
But don’t let their looks, their light, their fame
Cast a shadow on your own success, your own dream
We all get intimidated from time to time
We see someone else soaking up all of the limelight
But, why do we let that affect our own personal ‘swag’?

True enough, in life, people seem to ‘have it all’
But we don’t know their back story
We don’t know what they’ve endured to get where they are
We don’t know what keeps them up at night
We don’t realize that they too have insecurities and problems
What’s bad is when people are arrogant, haughty, self-important
And try to berate or diminish others because of their own hidden insecurities
But, still, don’t let them get you down
Focus on your God-given talents. You have them

And do you know what?
They won’t look exactly like “his” or “hers” because they’re YOURS
You are not a clone of anyone else
Let your light shine, dear friend
Let your light shine
You have so much to give
Don’t belittle your own gifting
You may or may not receive fame or proper recognition always
But, look beyond that to the core of the matter
How you can bless and inspire others

There is SOMEONE watching you
Someone watching how you handle yourself
How you overcome adversity
How you persevere
How you treat others
How you act when you think no one is looking

So, let that light inside of you shine BRIGHTLY for the world to see
Let that light shine brighter than ALL of the taunting, laughter, jealousy, hatred
YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL and STRONG and SMART, no matter what they say.
Here’s what I want you to know…
Whether you’re considered a ‘classic beauty’ or ‘hot’ or not,
You have a unique beauty all your own
You have a voice that no one else has
You have a smile that no one can match
You have a tenacity that is uniquely yours
You have a joy that cannot be taken away
You have a way of making others feel welcomed, that is a rare gift
You have a way about you that is special
You have a talent that cannot be hidden
You have a dream that cannot be squashed

Free yourself from the prison of other people’s opinions
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but,
that doesn’t mean that you have to internalize it, if it tears you down
Speak truth to yourself
You matter

Whether you’re quietly bold, or more outgoing
Don’t wither, don’t cringe, don’t cower because of others.
You’re here for a reason.
There is something that you can do, that is uniquely you
No one else can do it quite like you
Embrace that
and…
Shine.
Shine.
SHINE!
You’re beautiful.

Ps-If you’re being bullied – GO TELL SOMEONE!
You’re too precious to lose.

Arms That Hold The Universe

in-his-hands2

In light of all the disappointing and tragic news going on, including precious Cory Monteith (Finn on the TV show Glee) passing away at the tender age of 31 years, this song is on my heart more and more:

Arms That Hold The Universe – by 33 Miles (here’s YouTube link to hear the song – 33 Miles )

Lyrics below. May they bless you as they have me:

I know it seems like this could be
The darkest day you’ve known
But believe you me, the God of strength
Will never let you go
He will overcome I know

And the arms that hold the universe
Are holding you tonight
You can rest inside
It’s gonna be alright

And the voice that calmed the raging sea
Is calling you his child
So be still, and know He’s in control
He will never let you go

Through many dangers toils and snares
You have already come
His grace has brought you safe this far
His grace will lead you home

And the arms that hold the universe
Are holding you tonight
You can rest inside
It’s gonna be alright

And the voice that calmed the raging sea
Is calling you His child
So be still, and know He’s in control
He will never let you go

You can hope, you can rise, you can stand
He’s still got the whole world in His hands
You can hope, you can rise, you can stand
He’s still got the whole world, the whole world in His hands

And the arms that hold the universe
Are holding you tonight
You can rest inside
It’s gonna be alright

And the voice that calmed the raging sea
Is calling you His child
So be still, and know He’s in control
He will never let you go
He will never let you go

He’s still got the whole world in His hands
He’s still got the whole world in His hands

Hope & Dream

shooting star

Hello WordPress Family.
So sorry I’ve been absent for a while. I don’t know about you, but, I find that my inner writer goes through phases just as my life does. It ebbs and flows. Sometimes I will have lots to write and other times not-so-much. Thank you for being patient with me. 🙂

And thank you for ALL of you who read & follow my blog…and for the encouraging notes you send.
I’m thinking I’ll try to get more into the poetry side of myself…we’ll see how it goes.

Today’s post is about HOPE.

Hope – by KD

Hope
Four little letters
That form a word
A word that means I should not
Give up

Dream
Five little letters
That form a word
A word that means I should
Aim high

Then why do I let worries,
Problems, fears and such
Drag me down to a place
Where I cannot hope & dream as much

Do I let circumstances…or people
Talk me out of where I need to be?
And how do I shed the lies
So that I can again be free?

Hope
That bright light
Shining through the darkness of my mind
Hope
Its soft rays
Re-igniting the spark inside
So I can…

Dream
The big dreams
That were placed inside of me
Growing like a tree
For the whole world to see

Hope
Four little letters
That form a word
A word that means I should not
Give up

Dream
Five little letters
That form a word
A word that means I should
Aim high

So that I can reach and touch the stars….

🙂

Life Is A Song (a poem)

file00024592291

Life is a song
Life is a song I sing
Full of sweet notes
Sweet notes of love
Sweet notes that flow through the breeze
Flow through the air, flow through the trees

Life is a song
A song of woe
Woeful sadness
It’s blue and it’s cold
Deep bitter tones of heartache and heart-break
Swirling down to the ground

Life is a song
A song of questions
Where will I go?
How will I get there?
What will I do?
Questioning the paths I should take to reach my goals

Life is a song
A song of calm
A song of waiting
A song of patience
It’s quiet and serene
Like a still autumn morn’

Life is a song
A song of wisdom
Wisdom learned from life’s experiences
Sober notes
Notes swelling from well-crafted instruments
Instruments that are seasoned with time

Life is a song
Life is a song of wonder
A song of adventure and joy
An irreplaceable song
That ignites the soul
Live!
Sing!

Your Latter Will Be Greater

yellow daisy

I woke up this a.m. having had a horrible night’s sleep, and grumpy from a conversation I had last night, and wondering when will “my” day come?  Or am I destined to mediocrity?  Of course when I’m upset I’m very melodramatic.  As I sat down to talk to the Lord, I began to remember his promises, his words of encouragement spoken to me, and that he’s not slack concerning his promises.  And he impressed this song in my heart.  Humbled, I share it with you. Click the title of the song to hear it on youtube.  Lyrics below.

Your Latter Will Be Greater – (version by Israel Houghton & New Breed)

Verse:
You latter will be greater than your past,
you will be blessed, more than you could ask.
Despite all that has been done, the best is yet to come

Chorus:
And your latter will be greater,
your latter will be greater,
your latter will be greater than your past.

Bridge:
All things are possible,
possible, possible, possible.

All things are possible,
possible, possible, possible.

Chorus

Vamp 1:
The best is yet to come,
the best is yet to come,
oh, the best is yet to come.

Vamp 2:
Our best is yet to come,
our best is yet to come,
oh, our best is yet to come.

Vamp 3:
The King is soon to come,
the King is soon to come,
oh, the King is soon to come.

Put One Foot In Front of the Other

Sometimes all you can do when life is hard (and you don’t know how the story
ends) is to keep going. Because if you stop, you know you’ll either get
stuck, or even worse, you’ll regress backward and go into a downward spiral.

My encouragement to you today is to keep going. If you’re nosey…um,
inquisitive sounds better. If you’re inquisitive like me, you don’t want to
give up for sole reason that you might miss something good if you do. I was
like that as a kid. I always wanted to stay up late because I was afraid I
was going to miss something cool. So, keep going for sheer nosiness sake.
Hahaha! Seriously though, you don’t know what blue skies, sunshine and
rainbows may be on the other side of the storm, so keep walking, keep
marching, keep moving forward.

“Put one foot in front of the other” was a song from an animated Christmas
special from long ago. AND I FOUND IT FOR YOU! 🙂 Yes, I’m corny. But, I told
you in previous posts that I love music. Songs stay with me. They come back
to mind exactly when I need them. The words are “put one foot in front of
the other, and soon you’ll be walking ‘cross the floor. Put one foot in
front of the other, and soon you’ll be walking out the door.” Keep going my
friends. Don’t stop. Don’t give up, don’t give in. Push through to the other
side. Blessings await. Here’s a bit of nostalgia for some of you and a ‘new’
video for those of you who’ve never seen it & are curious enough to watch it.
The words are actually good. 🙂 Blessings to you.

Life Snippet

I’ve been feeling really “blah” lately. Trying to make sense of my life thus far. Could be a mid-life crisis type thing. Not sure. Anyway, I’ve decided to just ride this one out. Not try to “fix” myself or conform to others’ expectations. There’s a freedom in it. Just being. Letting myself cry when needed. Letting myself wade through feelings and life situations without any grand plan to tidy it up or tie it up neatly in a bow.

I tend to go with that line from the movie Forrest Gump – “Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get.” So true. So if I taste a delicious piece, my taste buds have a party, my endorphins kick in, and a smile plasters across my face. These are the good times and happy moments in life. Or, I can taste a piece that sets my taste buds on edge, I frown in the ugliest possible way and spit it out, quickly chasing the bad taste with a glass of water to rinse away the awfulness. These are bad times. The foul taste does go away, but, sometimes it takes longer than others. Sometimes you can “taste” it for days or sometimes it can be eliminated rather quickly. Sometimes there’s an after-taste. But that’s okay. As my mom always says, “This too shall pass”. To that I say “Amen and amen!” God hasn’t left me. He’s not very ‘chatty’ these days, but, He says enough to let me know He’s there. And more often than not, I feel his presence more so than ‘hearing’ his voice.

One of my favorite scriptures is this:

“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not consume you. For I am the Lord your God, the holy one of Israel, your Savior….Do not be afraid for I am with you.” Isaiah 43:2-3,5

In other words, tough times will come, but, He won’t let them consume us. He’s with us to help us through. I know I keep repeating this theme, but, it’s not just for you. I need to remind myself of these truths whenever things get hard. Repetition of good things…is …well, a good thing. Here’s a good song by Group 1 Crew & Chris August called, “He Said”. The lyrics say “He said, I won’t give you more than you can take. And I might let you bend, but I won’t let you break. And oh, I will never let you go…that’s what He said.” God may allow us to go through tough stuff, and we may feel like we cannot stand it a minute longer, but, His strength is made perfect in our weakness. When we feel we cannot go on, He provides his supernatural strength to us to help us get to the other side of it. So we’ve no cause to brag on ourselves. Nah. Instead we glory in Him. Amen. Here’s the song –> HE SAID – BY GROUP 1 CREW (featuring CHRIS AUGUST)
