Build It Anyway

construction

There are times in life when you feel hopeless and helpless. You wonder if anything you’re doing is making a difference. You wonder if anything you’re saying is resonating with anyone. Does anyone care what you’re contributing? The truth is, people can be so fickle. They like you one day and don’t like you the next.

So how can you know if you’re impacting the world? Sometimes you don’t…until later. There are some people that you will touch in profound ways that you may never know about, this side of heaven. But if you’re passionate about your calling, then pursue it.

There’s a song by Martina McBride called,”Anyway
Let me share some of the lyrics with you:

You can spend your whole life building
Something from nothing
One storm can come and blow it all away
Build it anyway

You can chase a dream
That seems so out of reach
And you know it might not ever come your way
Dream it anyway

God is great!
But sometimes life ain’t good
And when I pray
It doesn’t always turn out like I think it should
But I do it anyway…

That’s life, people.
That’s life.
Because even if you do it and it doesn’t succeed the way YOU think it should, does that mean you should give up?  Does that mean you’re not impacting others?  Nope. You can’t possibly know who you’ve touched along the way. As a Christian, I believe that we will find out one day in eternity how many people’s lives we’ve touched. But, even if you don’t believe that, I know that everything we do has a ripple effect. Are your ripples inspiring our crippling others? Are your ripples encouraging or discouraging others? You want your ripples to have the maximum positive impact.

Keep on keeping on. Keep building that dream.  Don’t give up.  The great thing about this life is that we’re not relegated to only ONE dream per lifetime. We can have SEVERAL dreams. MULTIPLE dreams. Be encouraged!

Keep moving forward. Keep pressing toward your goals. If something doesn’t go right, yes, you can take some time to mourn the loss. But don’t quit. Keep plugging away. You don’t know how many folks you will positively impact.
It’s not in the number of “likes” you get on social media.
It’s in the number of lives you touch.

Hope & Dream

shooting star

Hello WordPress Family.
So sorry I’ve been absent for a while. I don’t know about you, but, I find that my inner writer goes through phases just as my life does. It ebbs and flows. Sometimes I will have lots to write and other times not-so-much. Thank you for being patient with me. 🙂

And thank you for ALL of you who read & follow my blog…and for the encouraging notes you send.
I’m thinking I’ll try to get more into the poetry side of myself…we’ll see how it goes.

Today’s post is about HOPE.

Hope – by KD

Hope
Four little letters
That form a word
A word that means I should not
Give up

Dream
Five little letters
That form a word
A word that means I should
Aim high

Then why do I let worries,
Problems, fears and such
Drag me down to a place
Where I cannot hope & dream as much

Do I let circumstances…or people
Talk me out of where I need to be?
And how do I shed the lies
So that I can again be free?

Hope
That bright light
Shining through the darkness of my mind
Hope
Its soft rays
Re-igniting the spark inside
So I can…

Dream
The big dreams
That were placed inside of me
Growing like a tree
For the whole world to see

Hope
Four little letters
That form a word
A word that means I should not
Give up

Dream
Five little letters
That form a word
A word that means I should
Aim high

So that I can reach and touch the stars….

🙂

Ask Yourself…Then Act

1323680_question_mark

What inspires you?
Think about it.
What prompts you to WANT to change or WANT to do something different?
And do you follow through on the notion?
Or do you talk yourself out of it every time?
Are you ‘once bitten, twice shy’?
Are  you afraid to try something new again because you’ve gotten burned before?
Or are you afraid of failure?
OR….are you afraid of success?
What is your ‘kryptonite’?
What causes you to be sucked back into the vortex of your comfort zone?
Why do you choose doing the same thing you’ve always done and expect a different result?
Why are you comfortable with your dysfunctional baggage? Because it’s familiar? Is it helping you?
When are you going to say enough is enough?!
When are you going to go for it?!
Are you ALWAYS going to make excuses why you can’t or why it’s too hard?
Do you want to look back on your life and have regrets?
What will you do to spark change?
What will be your catalyst for change?
WHEN do you get up off of your excuses and DO something?
How/when/where will you step OUT of your comfort zone and dare to dream big?
Your big dream may be different from someone else’s, so do you let that scare you?
Are you always comparing yourself to others and then telling yourself you can’t do it?
Do you realize that you don’t have to listen to irrational doubts and fears?
Do you let failure defeat you?
Do you try and try again?
Do you come up with a new dream, a new plan when plan A doesn’t work out?
Do you keep stretching yourself to grow?
Don’t you realize you’re amazing?
Don’t you know that someone needs what you have to give?
Don’t you realize that your gift is needed in this world?
Don’t you see how unique and special you really are?
Don’t you think you’re worth it? Worth trying?
Ask yourself…Then Act.
